Lettuce greenhouse cooling
Lettuce and other leafy greens are sensitive to heat stress and uneven airflow. Commercial houses often rely on cooling and continuous air movement to keep leaves firm and tip burn under control during bright, warm periods. ClimaSpan supplies exhaust fans, evaporative cooling pads and circulation fans for leafy greens projects. Equipment is quoted after you share house data, location and crop mix rather than from invented catalogue ratings.

Cooling goals for lettuce
Leafy greens prefer cooler canopy conditions than many fruiting crops. When outdoor temperatures rise, evaporative pad-and-fan systems pull cooled air across beds or channels so tip burn and bolting pressure stay lower. Design the pad wall and exhaust end as one path so every bed sees moving air. Shade screens can cut radiant load but should work with, not replace, mechanical cooling where summers are demanding. Multi-span houses need care so interior spans are not starved of inlet air.
Airflow across beds and channels
Whether you grow in soil beds, NFT channels or other systems, stagnant zones create warm pockets and uneven leaf quality. Exhaust fans sized for the house drive the main air exchange; circulation fans fill gaps between rows and along side walls. Keep inlets clear of stacked trays or curtains that block the intended path. Walk the house at peak sun and feel for dead spots—those locations guide fan aim and count during quotation.
Humidity after cooling
Evaporative cooling raises humidity as it lowers temperature. Leafy greens still need enough air exchange so leaves dry appropriately between irrigation events. Stage pad pumps and fans from sensors when controllers are included. We do not publish invented temperature or humidity setpoints on this page; your climate and crop stage guide the final plan. Circulation remains useful at night when pads may be off but moisture still hangs in the canopy. High-density leafy production amplifies small climate differences: a warm corner shows up quickly as uneven head size or tip damage. Use the quotation process to align fan aim with bed orientation and walkway layout.
Requesting a leafy greens cooling quote
Email [email protected] with greenhouse dimensions, location, crop mix (lettuce, herbs or mixed greens) and any existing pads or fans. Describe gutter or bed layout if it affects airflow. We recommend a climate equipment package for the leafy greens house and send a quotation. Structure kits are outside ClimaSpan scope, and this page does not list prices or case studies. Winter ventilation still matters on sunny days when solar gain lifts canopy temperature even if outdoor air is cool—modulate exhaust rather than shutting the house completely when light is strong.

Frequently asked questions
Why is airflow so important for lettuce?
Even cooling and air movement help limit heat stress and reduce stagnant humid pockets that harm leaf quality. Exhaust and circulation fans work together toward that goal.
How do I get a lettuce cooling quote?
Send house size, location and crop details to [email protected]. We suggest pads and fans for the project and reply with a quote.
